Profile

I have been turning wood for twenty five years. Over that period my work has been on display in exhibitions in Ireland, the UK, and the USA. I have attended and given demonstrations on the craft both at home and abroad. When I set out on my career as a woodturner there was no training courses in the craft available in Ireland. Therefore, I was obliged to aquire my expertise in the UK. Consequently, having aquired sufficient expertise in the craft I was determined to provide training courses for anyone wishing to learn woodturning. In my role as tutor I am keen to promote the art of woodturning in all its aspects and to instill in my students a passion for the beauties of wood, the ability to identify various woods and to understand their properties, strengths and weaknesses. In addition, I am conscious of the need to demonstrate to aspiring turners the safe and correct use of tools and equipment as well as the importance of design in crafting products, so as to produce items of the highest quality and craftsmanship.
