Profile
I discovered wool in Ireland ten years ago. Wool became a material to explore with colour through weaving. My compositions are abstract. First I decide on a main colour and then I work around the concept, experimenting with different colour combinations that I blend through the mixed wool threads of my “weft”. The “weft” consists , in my work, of a thick knitted rope that varies in tones and shades along the woven pieces. It is the contrast between the subtle and close shades of the composition and the strength and regularity of the wool pattern which brings character to the whole . This original pattern as a magnified canvas produces a 3D effect where as a result of the simultaneous and successive contrasts virtual new colours change with daylight. In this bright environment the eye is happy both to examine the natural matter produced and, from a far, to rest and meditate.
