Profile
I like my objects, be they tiled conservatory tables or gold lustred breakfast mugs, to give pleasure. They must function well and feel good to touch and hold. Strong painterly qualities and exuberant use of colour achieved by the multilayering of slips, glazes, and lustres would be an underlying recognisable feature of my work. Clay is an expressive and flexible medium and I work with earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. My sculpture work usually arises from archeological artefacts as in my series based on the Maltese sleeping figure c3500 BC and her awakenings in various formats including bronze.
