Profile

Moritz Schurmann is a self-taught goldsmith. Born in Dublin in 1960. Moritz specialises in sourcing and using large and unusual cut precious gemstones such as aquamarine, tourmaline, opal, ruby and sapphire, these he combines with platinum, gold and silver to create unique and individual pieces of jewellery. Diamonds also feature in Moritz’s work not always as the focal point but to highlight a piece or in some cases as a subtle hidden surprise. Moritz is currently working on a collection of work, which will incorporate many unique one off pieces, these he hopes to exhibit in the coming year. Moritz has won a number of awards for his craftsmanship and design, 1st accommodation by the Goldsmith’s craft council of England for Designer finished pieces and the EBS craft competition for precious jewellery on two occasions. To target the personalised gift market Moritz has designed two pieces The treasure ring, which he introduced last year and has been a great success, and the Treasure-ingot which is new to the market. These along with a selection of his other collections and one off pieces will be on display at the national craft fair RDS Dublin from Wednesday 5th to Sunday 9th of DecemberMoritz Schurmann is a self-taught goldsmith.
