Tara is a designer maker who has been working in the field of printed textiles since 1989. She combines traditional craft techniques with digital technology to produce contemporary textiles for fashion and interiors. Some of her textiles are craft-led in the sense that they are of one-off pieces that have been digitally and/or hand printed. Others are design-led and take the form of prototypes suitable for mass production. These innovative prototypes are sold to domestic and international fashion designers and often form the basis for their garment development. Her objectives are to continue to design and make printed textiles that are relevant to contemporary aesthetics and also integrate form and function. She is interested in collaborating on innovative projects that explore craft, design and technology.
