Irish craft at the National Gallery of Ireland as part of Ealaín 2018, Sunday 15 July 2018
Ealaín, a special day celebrating Irish art and culture, takes place at the National Gallery of Ireland on Sunday, 15 July 2018. This is the second year of Ealaín which for 2018 will focus on the vibrant lives of women artists and their great contributions to Irish art. A full-day programme of themed offerings is planned.
In partnership with the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCoI), eight makers from the DCCoI PORTFOLIO programme will be participating in Ealaín 2018.
A pop-up exhibition of works by seven women designer makers will be in the Courtyard, 12pm – 4pm.
This dedicated exhibition will feature:
Úna Burke, leather
Julie Connellan, jewellery
Jennifer Hickey, ceramics
Alison Lowry, glass
Cecilia Moore, metals
Nuala O’Donovan, ceramics
Sasha Sykes, furniture
The majority of the designer makers featured in the exhibition will be onsite to meet visitors and be available to discuss their work.
Running alongside this pop-up exhibition will be a live demonstration of basketmaking by renowned craftsperson Alison Fitzgerald, also in the Courtyard, 12pm – 4pm.
