Passing of Blanaid Reddin, one of the founding members of the Crafts Council of Ireland

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the recent passing of Blanaid Reddin, one of the founding members of the Crafts Council of Ireland, now trading as Design & Crafts Council Ireland.

Throughout her life, Blanaid was a key supporter and champion of craftspeople across the island of Ireland. She worked with Bord Fáilte and was a member of the Management Committee of the Crafts Council of Ireland and of various sub-committees from the Council’s incorporation in 1976. She was elected Chairman of the Crafts Council of Ireland in April 1980, serving in this role until May 1982, and continued to serve on the Management Committee for many years, playing a significant role in the development of the crafts sector in Ireland.

Our thoughts are with Blanaid’s family, colleagues and wide circle of friends at this sad time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
