Makers & Brothers: Irish Design 2015 -  The Souvenir Project

Makers & Brothers: Irish Design 2015 -  The Souvenir Project

Running from Tuesday 22nd to Sunday 27th September, The Souvenir Project will be shown at Rochelle School, Arnold Circus, London E2 7ES and is part of the Shoreditch Design Triangle.

The project features exciting new work and exclusive collaborations between over 20 Irish makers and designers across a broad range disciplines. Playful, useful or simply curious, the resulting objects engage on many levels and reflect Ireland’s rich, dynamic and imaginative cultural landscape. A collection of contemporary souvenirs that explores the local context, championing creative collaborations between Irish designers and makers. Playful, useful or simply curious - a gathering of objects with meaning and depth commissioned by ID2015 and curated by Jonathan Legge, Makers & Brothers.

Superfolk are one of the makers involved in The Souvenir Project and they are part of the Live Studio Demos at Ó taking place at Tent London, 24th-27th September, Hall G5, Ground Floor, Old Truman Brewery, Hanbury Street, London E1 6QR.

Two items from The Souvenir Project collection which will be exhibited at Ó include: The Honey Pot designed and made by Stephen Pearce. One field, the source of both the clay for the pot and the raw honey that it holds. The pot contains raw honey created on the banks of the Blackwater. Clay was sourced next to the hives. Also a series of crystal vases by J. Hill’s Standard that are cut with new graphic patterns, developed by Studio AAD, representing curious Irish expressions used to describe the many ways rain falls in the Emerald Isle.
