Tony Farrell

Tony Farrell is a full time woodturner based in Ballinora, Waterfall, Co. Cork. Mainly making bowls, lamps, hollow forms and boxes from Irish grown woods, which he harvests and seasons himself. Tony mainly harvests either dead or storm felled trees. Seasoning takes at least six months, and can take up to two years, depending on the type of wood, and the condition of the tree before harvesting. He also recycles old timbers and off-cuts which would otherwise be burnt or left to rot. He mainly uses oak, ash, elm, sycamore, beech, apple, cherry, sweet chestnut, and yew. Tony’s range of products also includes buttons and cake stands and he also makes multi-purpose boards from kitchen worktop off-cuts, these can be used as chopping boards or presentation platters for serving cheese, tapas, roast meats and pizza.
