Contemporary Tapestry Artists (CTA)
The group was founded in 1990 and is comprised of professional tapestry weavers who design and make original works primarily in the Gobelin tapestry technique. Members are involved in commissioned and exhibition work and in the teaching of woven tapestry and related disciplines.
The members of Contemporary Tapestry Artists Ireland exhibit as a group nationwide and promote the high standard of tapestry being created in Ireland, they wish to take their place in the wider tapestry movement.
As a group the members draw inspiration from nature and the world in general. The group takes short breaks in the West of Ireland in order to plan and discuss work, to design and to weave tapestry.
Exhibitions, promotion, commissions, teaching, design/work breaks.
Who Can Join
The group consists of seven members whom have all been successful in gaining awards, commissions, and exhibiting their work over the past 20 years.
