Craft & Design Collective, Northern Ireland
The Craft & Design Collective, formerly known as Co. Down Crafts was originally formed in 1997 by artists and designer makers to help raise the profile of craft and design in Co. Down while also managing and facilitating the development of craft, applied art and design. With over 125 members it is the largest craft network in Northern Ireland. The collective is dedicated to the promotion, representation, understanding and development of craft, applied art & design in Northern Ireland and beyond.
Space CRAFT is the shop, gallery and exhibition area owned and managed by the Craft & Design Collective, it opened in June 2007 and is designed to be a focal point for the commissioning, exhibition, promotion and sale of craft, applied art & design. Space CRAFT also houses an information library/resource centre and organises an annual subsidised photography scheme for members.
