Central Bank Silver Coin Design Competition

100 Years of Transatlantic Aviation &
Modern Irish Musicians – Phil Lynott

In 2019, Central Bank of Ireland will issue a €15 silver proof collector coin to mark 100 Years of Transatlantic Aviation and a second €15 silver proof collector coin to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Phil Lynott’s birth. This coin is part of the ‘Modern Irish Musicians’ series which will also commemorate Luke Kelly in 2020.

Artists and designers who would like to participate in this design competition are invited initially to submit their Curriculum Vitae and samples/evidence of previous medallic works (such as coinage) for consideration. Both electronic and hard copy submission is required.

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their submissions by an independent panel of experts. The shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in one or both of the design competitions and will receive a design brief including technical specifications.

Shortlisted candidates will receive a design fee, subject to compliance with the design brief provided. The winning candidate will receive a further payment in respect of the winning design.
