The Design & Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCoI) is the main champion of the design and craft industry in Ireland, fostering its growth and commercial strength, communicating its unique identity and stimulating quality design, innovation and competitiveness. DCCoI's activities are funded by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation via Enterprise Ireland.
The Education Intern will work with the Education Manager assisting them in the delivery of the DCCoI’s national education programmes. The DCCoI works across primary education, through to third level. Programmes vary from large scale events, to in-school residencies to teacher training. The Education Intern will be based primarily in the Education office, some national travel may be required. They will assist with the planning of educational activities, assist with event set-up and delivery, and assist with the collation of materials for reports/evaluations. Good administration skills and ability to work well within a team will be of benefit in this role. Candidates are offered valuable work experience and an insight into the workings of a national body. On completion the candidate will have attained increased skills in communication and presentation, developed their project management skills with an increased ability to co-ordinate and deliver education programmes, expanded their knowledge of craft and design practice and will have widened their network of craft and design practitioners, and educators in Ireland.
This position does not offer a salary. A stipend of €50 p/wk will be provided and travel/expenses associated with offsite events or activities will be covered.
