Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open for two export opportunities in Winter 2019

Calling all Fashion, Apparel, Knitwear and Accessories Designers, Expression of Interests (EOI) are now open for two export opportunities in Winter 2019.

DCCoI are seeking expressions of interests from all Fashion, Apparel, Knitwear and Accessories Designer makers that are interested in participating in events in Tokyo and New York this October/November 2019.

1. The first opportunity is mid-October with a Ireland Retail Showcase in Tokyo,  Japan.

This B2B event is to coincide with Tokyo Amazon Fashion Week and will include the following.

  • A screening of Fí, a short Film directed by celebrated filmmaker, Perry Ogden.
  • Display of product from 15-20 Irish designers. Products presented at the event will be from a mixture of large and small brands, mainly from Showcase though not a prerequisite.
  • A reception and talk about Ireland’s design and craft heritage.

This is a multiple partner event with Showcase, DCCoI, Enterprise Ireland and the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The audience being targeted includes:

  • Japanese retailers who currently sell European heritage goods in Fashion, Wellness and Lifestyle categories
  • Distributors and importers of quality European goods
  • Trade media for the consumer retail sector
  • Travel and lifestyle media

On successful selection brands will be required to supply product for exhibition only.

It is not envisaged that the selected brands will travel however this maybe subject to review and change.

The exhibition including all logistics of getting products to and from Tokyo will be funded.

Products would be required for despatch by the beginning of September 2019.

2. The second opportunity is mid-November with a Design Ireland Showcase in New York,  USA.

This programme is a series of B2B events over a series of days in Manhattan, New York and will include the following.

  • US première of Fí, with a live broadcast and directors talk  with Perry Ogden.
  • This evening event will include a presentation of work from 12 Irish designers.
  • The 2 days following showrooms based in Bank of Irelands NY HQ  will be open to media and trade, Here designers will be presenting womenswear and menswear collections with particular focus on authenticity, heritage and sustainable fashion.
  • Designers will also receive a day of mentoring with New York based fashion and luxury industry experts to learn more about building their brand in the US market.

The program is being run by DCCoI, working with primary sponsor, Bank of Ireland, including supports  from Enterprise Ireland, USA and the Consul General of Ireland.

The audience being targeted includes:

  • A target list of high end retailers and indepent stores who currently sell European heritage goods in Fashion and Lifestyle categories
  • Distributors and importers of quality European goods
  • Media and influencers for the consumer retail sector

On successful selection brands will be required to supply product and travel to New York for a minimum of 3 – 4  days during  the 3rd week in November.

The Programme including all logistics of getting products to and from New York will be funded. Additionally a travel subsidy of €500 only per brand is available. 

Any additional travel or other costs will be at the expense of the selected brands.

Products would be required for despatch by the middle of October 2019.

Both opportunities require creative brands that can deliver collections, which are made or finished, or where the cloth has been made on the island of Ireland. Pricing is a key consideration and should be competitive within the luxury market place. Quality is a must and products should be to a high standard. Brands must be in a position to export.

Successful EOI’s will be shortlisted by an independent selection panel and advised no later than Friday 8th August of next steps.

  • All applicants must be registered Design & Crafts Council of Ireland (DCCoI) clients
  • If registration as a DCCoI client is pending, offers can only be made on successful completion of registration 
  • Have submitted information as required by the DCCoI 2019 Client Survey
  • The decision of the independent selection panel is final
