Louise Robinson

Louise Robinson

In September 2016, Louise left Hartlepool, on the coast of North East England, and moved to Ireland to pursue her love of ceramics. She was first introduced to ceramics at school and was immediately hooked. She has always enjoyed drawing and making things and bringing ideas to life in clay felt like a natural progression. Her first experience of ceramic techniques was producing coil- and slab-built pots, and the DCCoI ceramics course has given her the chance to learn to throw.

Artist statement:
I aspire to make beautiful pots that people want to use and admire. My work is influenced by natural forms. I am interested in the vessel both functional and sculptural and exploring possibilities of scale and surface treatment. In my recent work I have been experimenting with layers. I work in stoneware clay which I throw on the wheel and then alter. I’m also interested in form and linear patterns. I have an open approach to trying various techniques in this early stage of my ceramics career. I think this exploration will spark new ideas.
